Dear FIREDUP Youth and Families:

Our theme this year is “Holiness”

1 Pet 1:15-16

15            but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all {your} behavior;

16            because it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy."

God is looking for a generation of people who will seek after Him unconditionally and as our first priority.    This is why He desires us to pursue holiness in our homes, in our families and as our light shines in the society around us. 

We are looking forward to a year where we stir up and encourage one another to serve our Lord as He desires in a way that glorifies him and does not distract one another from pursuing God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.

As you may know, Firedup Youth  is a discipleship group and not a typical youth group.  While all teens and college age youth are welcome we are concentrating our efforts on discipleship.  We are asking our youth to take their Christianity seriously and to use their teen years as a time when they can pursue an undistracted devotion to God.  Because of this we have high standards for dress, appearance and relationships.  We ask that the clothing and jewelry worn at all events be modest and non-distracting as our focus is to be on pursuing holiness and not drawing attention to ourselves.  We also stress all relationships be as brother-sister relationships rather than pairing off, flirting, or stirring up emotions in a brother or sister in Christ that you would not stir up in your own brother or sister.

We have found that as our teens and college youth become disciples they are then in turn able to begin discipling younger teens.  This year we have over 20 high school seniors and college youth leading or helping to lead 8 small groups on Wednesday night.  We have found this to be a huge success and have been very proud of our college leaders. 

We are very excited to see where God will take us this year and we invite you and your youth to join us journey of becoming more and more conformed to the image of Christ and sharing this good news  with the world around us.
